I have tried a few of these in the past.

I just tried Shrink-o-matic and it increased a 450 x 300 png from 213kb to 344kb?!?! Not so good.

I find smush.it really useful and have gotten really good results from it many times now.

This is an incredibly helpful post. On page photo optimization is a huge area that web developers often miss out on.

Thanks for the list. I’ve never even heard of most of these image crunchers. I still swear by Google PageSpeed since it’s a complete toolkit by the same company we’re pandering to, but I’ll try out a couple others.

Hey Walker,
Very nice post indeed. I have seen this problem many times that websites takes ages to load because most of the images on it are linked by 3rd party websites, so server has to respond 3 ways, thats the reason it works slow.

Till some extent these websites would help, but if you still have soem 3rd party images on your website then it would be all same at the end of the day.
